Set a savings goal, a time horizon, and a contribution rate, then compare the outcomes side by side. Every projection runs in your browser, and no personal data is collected.
Educational estimates only. Assumes a constant annual return, no taxes, and no fees. This is not financial advice.
Illustrative ledger · constant 6% annual return
Time horizon drives the result. The same contribution started ten years later rarely catches up, even at a higher rate.

Everything runs in your browser. No account, no personal data stored, no financial advice given.
Assumptions stay visible: a constant annual return, no taxes, no fees. Change one input and the whole projection recalculates.
01
Set a target balance, your current age, and a retirement age. The distance between today's balance and the target sets the contribution rate you would need.
02
Move the rate a single percentage point at a time, or add an employer match. Each change refreshes the year-by-year ledger and prints a plain sentence describing the tradeoff.
03
Line your current path against the +1% and +2% rates in a side-by-side table. Export the plan as CSV or a print sheet, and keep the assumptions page with it.
Example scenario
| Elapsed time | Current path $200/mo |
+1% $240/mo |
+2% $280/mo |
Delta at +2% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 years | 115,800 | 122,400 | 129,000 | +13,200 |
| 20 years | 260,900 | 280,600 | 300,300 | +39,400 |
| 30 years | 546,400 | 591,700 | 637,100 | +90,700 |
Figures are hypothetical, use a constant 7% annual return with no taxes or fees, and do not describe any actual account. Read the full assumptions. Run your own numbers in the planner.
Key factors
Twenty-five years of compounding against fifteen rarely closes with extra contributions alone. Starting age is the largest single lever in the model.
InputOne additional percentage point of pay adds a fixed amount each year. Those amounts compound alongside the existing balance for the whole horizon.
InputA match raises the effective contribution rate without raising what you set aside. Only the matched portion of pay is applied to the ledger.
InputThe base case applies a constant annual return. Real markets move up and down, so actual results will not follow a smooth line.
AssumptionBalances are shown in today's dollars so a 2050 figure stays comparable to the target you set. One flat rate is applied throughout.
AssumptionNo fees are modeled in the base case. Even a small annual expense ratio trims the ending balance over decades, so the assumptions page shows how to test it.
Not modeledTaxes are left out. Traditional and Roth treatment changes what you keep in hand, not what the ledger displays during accumulation.

This tool exists to show how contribution rate, time horizon, and assumed return interact. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and no advisory or fiduciary relationship is created by using it.
All balances are hypothetical. They are not a prediction, a guarantee, or a promise of future results. Real outcomes will differ, sometimes substantially.
Projections assume a constant annual return, no taxes, no account fees, and contributions made on a fixed schedule. Inflation applies only where a field says so.
